About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Duane Reade, you will learn to provide patient care while assisting the pharmacy team. You will work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist to gain experience in pharmacy operations, patient interaction, and clinical services. This role focuses on developing your skills in a retail pharmacy setting while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team in daily operations, including entering, processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions.
- Engage with patients by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues to provide a helpful experience.
- Support pharmacists and healthcare providers in delivering patient care services within your state scope of practice.
- Manage inventory tasks like ordering, unpacking, and organizing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Handle register transactions and process sales for pharmacy customers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked pharmacy department.
- Report any prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
- Handle routine telephone calls and assist with administrative pharmacy tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, which includes evenings and weekends.
