Wagner College is seeking an ACUHO-I Intern for the Lifelong Learning department for the Summer 2026 term. This full-time, on-site position offers an opportunity to gain experience in residential facilities management, conference operations, and customer service within a higher education setting. The intern will be supervised by the Director for the Department for Lifelong Learning and the Director of Residential Education.
What you'll do#
- Supervise the Conference Assistant team, including managing payroll and work schedules.
- Collaborate with Residential Education and Lifelong Learning to communicate with and respond to guest concerns.
- Manage conference schedules, including room set-ups, breakdowns, laundry services, and room changeovers.
- Oversee check-in and check-out procedures, including key management and coordination with Public Safety and Dining Services for room assignments and meal plans.
- Maintain room assignments for summer conference groups and coordinate linen inventory and exchange processes.
- Record and report residence hall damages to the appropriate departments.
- Serve as a mandated reporter and assist in ensuring guest health and safety by following site medical protocols.
- Attend weekly staff meetings and assist with campus events as needed.
What you'll need#
- Experience in residential life, conferences, student affairs, or hotel operations and guest management.
- Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- A strong customer service attitude and the ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Enrollment in a graduate program.
- Preferred experience includes supervising students, organizing large data sets using Google Drive, and training in cultural competence.
- Relevant majors include Business Administration, Psychology, Communications, or Human Resources.
Location & details#
- Location: Staten Island, New York.
- Term: Summer 2026 (preferred dates from early June through early August, with potential for extension to mid-August).
- Compensation: $3,000 stipend, on-campus housing, a full meal plan, and a subway card equivalent to 10 rides.
