About the role#
This is a paid, one-semester graduate internship supporting the Perioperative Supply Chain department. The primary objective is to establish a baseline for consigned inventory across two hospital locations. This project involves conducting a four-part landscape survey, including a physical inventory baseline, a contract-terms audit, a floor-to-book gap analysis, and a current-state conformance study. The goal is to produce a dataset and repeatable protocol to make consignment inventory visible and measurable.
What you'll do#
- Take direction from an administrative sponsor to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Shadow Virtua employees to gain practical experience in health system operations.
- Utilize handheld barcode scanners and mobile capture devices in clinical storage environments.
- Conduct physical inventory counts, requiring the ability to walk shelves, reach, bend, and handle products for extended periods.
- Complete and present a final report to the administrative sponsor prior to the end of the internship.
- Adhere to all facility access, badging, infection-control, and confidentiality requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a graduate program in supply chain, business, operations, healthcare administration, industrial engineering, or a related field.
- Exposure to healthcare, hospital, or perioperative supply chain environments.
- Experience or coursework in process mapping, Lean, or performance improvement.
- Ability to work from established standard operating procedures and assess conformance.
- Submission of a resume and a statement of objectives prior to the start of the internship.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site role requiring reliable travel between hospital locations in Stow, Voorhees, Mount Holly, Marlton, and Willingboro, New Jersey.
- The position is offered on a rolling basis.
