About the role#
This is a paid, one-semester graduate internship supporting the Perioperative Supply Chain department. The objective is to establish a ground-truth baseline for consigned inventory across two hospital locations. As this inventory type currently lacks a baseline count and visibility in the system of record, the intern will execute a four-part landscape survey. This includes a physical inventory baseline, a contract-terms audit, a floor-to-book gap analysis, and a current-state conformance study. The goal is to produce a dataset and a repeatable protocol that makes consignment inventory measurable for the first time.
What you'll do#
- Take direction from an administrative sponsor to perform duties commensurate with your experience level.
- Complete all assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Shadow Virtua employees as directed by your sponsor.
- Gain practical, hands-on experience in the operations of a health system.
- Conduct physical inventory counts in perioperative and clinical storage environments using a handheld barcode scanner.
- Prepare and present a final report detailing your findings before the conclusion of the internship.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a graduate program in supply chain, business, operations, industrial engineering, health administration, or a related field.
- Exposure to healthcare or perioperative supply chain environments.
- Experience with process mapping, Lean methodologies, or performance improvement.
- Ability to work on-site, which includes walking shelves, reaching, bending, and handling products for extended periods.
- Ability to adhere to facility access, badging, infection-control, and confidentiality requirements.
- Submission of a resume and a statement of objectives prior to the start of the internship.
Location & details#
- This role is strictly on-site, requiring reliable travel between hospital locations in Stow, Voorhees, Mount Holly, Marlton, and Willingboro, New Jersey.
- The internship follows a rolling term schedule.
