    About the role#

    The Mechanical Engineering Intern will support the design, documentation, and improvement of custom busbar systems and electromechanical products for critical power infrastructure. You will work in an engineered-to-order environment where every solution is unique. This role offers hands-on experience through project ownership and collaboration with experienced engineers, manufacturing personnel, and project teams.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
    • Support engineering change requests, drawing revisions, and design reviews.
    • Maintain Bills of Materials and support documentation within PLM and ERP systems.
    • Verify documentation for accuracy and organize engineering files.
    • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve production issues.
    • Participate in first-of-a-kind builds and observe fabrication, assembly, and testing.
    • Contribute to Lean and continuous improvement initiatives by standardizing processes and developing efficiency tools.
    • Complete a defined internship project with measurable business impact.
    • Attend team meetings and present progress updates to leadership, concluding with a final presentation.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
    • Completion of at least your sophomore year.
    • Basic knowledge of statics, mechanics of materials, manufacturing processes, and machine design.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and within a team.
    • Preferred: Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
    • Preferred: Exposure to engineering drawings and GD&T.
    • Preferred: Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly operations.
    • Preferred: Experience with engineering projects, Formula SAE, robotics, or design competitions.
    • Preferred: GPA of 3.0 or higher.
