About the role#
As a Safety Intern at Vermeer Corporation, you will support Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives through project work, data analysis, and workplace assessments. This role focuses on helping create a safer and more environmentally responsible manufacturing environment. You will work across different departments to identify hazards, reduce risk, and improve our safety culture.
What you'll do#
- Assist with EHS inspections, audits, risk assessments, workplace observations, and compliance assurance activities.
- Support incident and near-miss investigations by gathering information, documenting findings, and identifying contributing factors.
- Analyze EHS data to help develop reports, EHS Scorecard metrics, dashboards, and presentations.
- Assist with environmental compliance tasks, including waste management, recycling, stormwater, air emissions, and pollution-prevention initiatives.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects using Plan-Do-Check-Act principles.
- Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Human Resources, and Occupational Health teams to implement practical solutions.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to organize information, identify trends, and maintain attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site position based in Pella, Iowa.
- The role is a full-time, paid internship with a rolling term.
- No travel is required for this position.
