About the role#
The Design Engineer Intern assists with the design, documentation, assembly, and testing of new solutions. You will support production, sales, and service teams by troubleshooting issues and updating designs. This role involves analyzing structural components to ensure they meet performance goals and customer needs.
What you'll do#
- Design and detail purchased items, machining, weld, and assembly prints using SolidWorks.
- Build and test prototypes alongside Engineering Technicians.
- Analyze production issues and help develop solutions.
- Calculate loading and directional requirements based on data and assumptions.
- Create and maintain bills of materials (BOM).
- Test design changes implemented by technicians.
What you'll need#
- A High School diploma.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Mechanical, Industrial, Agriculture, or Electrical Engineering.
- A previous internship is a plus.
- Knowledge of FEA, hydraulics, electronics, statistics, and strength of materials.
- Ability to identify root causes for design issues and produce accurate documentation.

- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based on-site in Pella, Iowa.
