About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineer Intern at Vermeer, you will work on projects that improve production processes and support operational goals. This role provides hands-on experience in lean manufacturing and cross-functional teamwork while preparing you for a future in engineering.
What you'll do#
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and sustainability in production areas.
- Collaborate with welding, assembly, machining, and engineering teams to support new product introductions.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles like Just-In-Time production and Kaizen events to reduce waste.
- Document and analyze current and future state processes using standard work documentation and value stream mapping.
- Design and optimize tooling and fixtures while gaining exposure to digital work instruction platforms.
- Use PLM and ECN systems to contribute to documentation and change management.
- Participate in data-driven decision-making using ERP systems, Power BI, and IoT-enabled monitoring tools.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field.
- A foundational understanding of tooling design, process improvement techniques, and lean manufacturing concepts.
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical schematics.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with statistical process variation and digital manufacturing tools is a plus.
