About the role#
Valmont Industries is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineering Intern to join the Global Utility Division. This position supports the North America Steel Design Engineering team. You will gain hands-on experience by working on real-world engineering projects while learning from experienced professionals. The internship is designed to build your technical skills through meaningful work and mentorship.
What you'll do#
- Participate in design and analysis processes.
- Recommend improvements for design criteria, analysis methods, and drafting procedures.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Procurement, Service, Quality Assurance, and Engineering teams to understand product development.
- Assist in troubleshooting design challenges.
- Apply your design knowledge while considering the efficiency and manufacturability of final designs.
What you'll need#
- Standing as a rising junior or senior pursuing a degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical engineering.
- Completed coursework in Statics and Mechanics of Materials.
- Proficiency with CAD applications, including 3D modeling skills.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Coursework in Structural Analysis, Steel Design, or Strength of Materials is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a remote internship based in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
- Terms are available for Spring 2027 and Summer 2027.
- This is a paid, full-time position.
