About the role#
Valmont Industries is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Global Agriculture division in Valley, Nebraska. This is a paid, on-site internship for the Winter 2027 term. You will work alongside experienced professionals to gain hands-on experience, participate in project work, and engage in job shadowing. This role reports to the Director of Engineering and requires the ability to travel domestically up to 10% of the time.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to the design and development of new products to meet specific project requirements.
- Collaborate with teams in Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Operations, and Service to ensure designs are efficient and manufacturable.
- Provide mechanical design input and direction during technical reviews and conference calls.
- Develop modifications for existing products to support cost reduction, reliability, and warranty improvements.
- Coordinate and conduct laboratory or field testing as needed.
- Follow standard design procedures and recommend updates when necessary.
- Provide technical support to various departments and maintain strong relationships with customers and field personnel.
What you'll need#
- Junior standing pursuing a degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Proven mechanical aptitude and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- An organized, driven, and eager approach to learning.
- Ability to travel domestically up to 10% during the internship.
- Experience in an agricultural setting is preferred.
- Experience with 3D computer-aided design software is preferred.
