About the role#
Valmont Industries is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern for the Coatings Division. You will work alongside our Structural Engineering Manager to gain hands-on experience through project work, job shadowing, and interaction with senior leadership. This role is paid and supports both summer and winter terms.
What you'll do#
- Model the Valmont core values of integrity, continuous improvement, passion, and delivering results.
- Inspect properties to assess the condition of foundations and building structures.
- Perform field measurements and calculate load and capacity requirements.
- Select appropriate construction materials and provide technical advice.
- Prepare designs, drawings, and reports for various projects.
- Manage project scope documents and administer contracts.
- Obtain necessary building regulations approval.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to monitor work.
What you'll need#
- You are a rising junior or senior pursuing a degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Proficiency with CAD applications, including the ability to convert drawings into 3D models.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in Omaha, NE, or Valley, NE.
- The role is available for Winter 2027 and Summer 2027 terms.
- This is a paid internship.
