About the role#
Urban Systems is hiring Civil Engineering Co-op students for the Winter 2027 term. These are full-time, paid positions located on-site in Courtenay, Kelowna, Nelson, or Vancouver. You will work alongside engineers and recent graduates on projects involving municipal infrastructure, transportation, stormwater, and water resources. You will engage with diverse clients, including Indigenous communities, municipal and provincial governments, and land developers.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate on team projects using industry-standard technologies and programs.
- Assist with the planning, design, and analysis of municipal infrastructure.
- Develop spreadsheets and document utility analysis and cost estimates.
- Attend site visits and field work to conduct inspections.
- Compose professional communications, including draft emails, memos, and reports.
- Partner with contractors, suppliers, and consultants in project meetings to support project delivery and administration.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a civil, environmental, or integrated engineering program, with an emphasis in civil engineering.
- Completion of 3rd or 4th year of study.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality control.
- Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written channels.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence is considered an asset, as it is required for some roles to perform site visits.
Location & details#
- Locations: Courtenay, Kelowna, Nelson, and Vancouver, British Columbia.
- Term: Winter 2027 (4, 8, or 12-month terms available).
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $25.00 - $29.00 per hour, depending on location and experience.
- Additional Support: Relocation assistance is available if applicable. Students also receive a monthly transit subsidy, paid sick leave, and wellbeing support.
