About the role#
The Medical Nurse Practitioner provides continuous care through disease management, health promotion, and preventative services at the University Health Hub. You will diagnose and treat acute, episodic, or chronic illnesses either independently or as part of a healthcare team. This role involves serving as a clinical resource for staff including RNs, LPNs, and lab personnel.
What you'll do#
- Provide episodic and chronic care, including screening and patient education.
- Obtain and interpret patient history, physical findings, and diagnostic information to form diagnoses.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab results, EKGs, and imaging.
- Develop treatment plans based on professional standards and evidence-based guidelines.
- Prescribe medications and counsel patients on drug regimens, potential side effects, and interactions.
- Recognize signs of mental or emotional illness and refer patients for behavioral health evaluation.
- Educate patients on self-management of illnesses.
What you'll need#
- Master’s Degree in Nursing.
- Two years of experience.
- Current and valid Tennessee license from the State Board of Nursing for Advanced Nursing Practice.
- Valid Prescriptive Authority, including a DEA certificate if prescribing scheduled drugs.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and community partners.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of pharmaceuticals and drug interactions.

- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Frequently requires work on weekends and evenings. May require occasional overnight travel.
