The Medical Nurse Practitioner at University Health Hub provides continuous, comprehensive care for patients at the health hubs and clinics. This role focuses on disease management, health promotion, and preventative services by diagnosing and treating acute, episodic, or chronic illnesses, either independently or as part of a healthcare team.
What you'll do#
- Provide episodic and chronic care, including screening and educational assistance.
- Obtain and interpret patient history, symptoms, physical findings, and diagnostic information to develop treatment plans.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests such as laboratory results, EKGs, and imaging studies.
- Develop treatment plans and perform screenings or immunizations based on evidence-based practice guidelines.
- Recognize signs of mental or emotional illness and refer patients for behavioral health evaluation.
- Prescribe medications and counsel patients regarding drug regimens, potential side effects, and interactions.
- Educate patients on the self-management of acute or chronic illnesses.
- Serve as a clinical resource for nursing and support staff, including RNs, LPNs, CMAs, and lab personnel.
What you'll need#
- Master’s Degree in Nursing (transcripts required).
- Two years of professional experience.
- Current, valid Tennessee license from the State Board of Nursing for Advanced Nursing Practice.
- Valid Prescriptive Authority, including a DEA certificate if prescribing scheduled drugs.
- Valid driver's license.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coach and instruct patients.
- Working knowledge of pharmaceuticals, side effects, and potential drug interactions.
Location & details#
- Location: Memphis, Tennessee.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: This position may frequently require working weekends and evenings, as well as occasional overnight travel.
- Status: Full-time, paid position.
