About the role#
The Office of Decision Support (ODS) at the University of South Florida is looking for a Student Assistant to join the Student Success Research & Analytics team. This position offers an opportunity to gain experience with data analysis and visualization while supporting initiatives that inform university leadership. You will work alongside analysts and leadership to assist with projects that shape institutional decision-making.
What you'll do#
- Collect, clean, and analyze data regarding student success metrics.
- Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using Power BI, Excel, and AI tools like Copilot.
- Manage data documentation and reporting workflows using Word, Jira, and Confluence.
- Assist with project organization and the creation of project documentation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at USF.
- Enrollment of at least half-time status for the semester (6 credits for undergraduate or 5 credits for graduate students).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, Power Query, and data formatting.
- Experience with analytics tools and languages such as SQL, SAS, or R.
- Familiarity with data visualization platforms like Power BI or Tableau.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to solve problems and work both independently and within a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A willingness to learn new analytical techniques and technologies.
