About the role#
University Enterprises, Inc. is hiring a Student Assistant for the Special Funds Unit within the Financial Services Branch at the California Department of Motor Vehicles. This is a part-time, temporary, and non-benefited position. You will work in an office environment at the DMV headquarters in Sacramento. The role offers a flexible schedule between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours during school breaks.
What you'll do#
- Reconcile programs within the Local Agency Collection Fund.
- Prepare claim schedules, remittance advices, journal entries, and check requests.
- Maintain databases and process suspense receipts or stop payment requests.
- Review and analyze program data against records in the Oracle system.
- Investigate and resolve errors posted by other staff.
- Process stale-dated or undeliverable checks.
- Prepare transactions to allocate funds and make necessary adjustments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least six-semester or nine-quarter units. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least four-semester or six-quarter units.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and maintain regular attendance.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure.
