About the role#
The Accounting Services Branch is hiring a student assistant to support fiscal operations. You will work under the supervision of a senior officer to handle administrative tasks, research data, and provide technical support for accounting needs. This is a part-time, temporary position based in the Natural Resources Building in downtown Sacramento.
What you'll do#
- Review, research, and process various invoices, including reimbursement, lease, and advance invoices.
- Audit invoices for accuracy to ensure they meet all necessary criteria.
- Input data into the State's Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal).
- Maintain a tracking spreadsheet for approved invoices in the Billing Log.
- Correspond with departmental staff via phone, email, and internal systems to verify information.
- Assist with general clerical tasks like scanning, copying, and preparing mail.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student at an accredited institution.
- Minimum enrollment of six-semester units or nine-quarter units for undergraduate students.
- A declared major in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Location & details#
- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Flexible hours, Monday through Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM.
- Hours: Up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during academic breaks.
