About the role#
As a Sleep Intern, you will work under the direction of a Registered Polysomnography Technologist or a Registered Respiratory Therapist-Sleep Disorder Specialist. This role focuses on developing competency in polysomnographic testing and patient interventions. You will support patient care for adults and geriatric populations.
What you'll do#
- Attach electrodes and monitors to patients during sleep studies.
- Monitor patients throughout the night.
- Document observations and collect data from monitoring equipment.
- Report findings to physicians.
- Perform CPAP and BiPAP titration along with oxygen therapy when needed.
- Score reports once you reach technical competency.
- Move equipment, walk, and assist with patient lifting as part of the daily physical requirements.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Enrollment in the AASM A-STEP program within 6 months of your hire date.
- Ability to work under stress.
- Note that this is a safety-sensitive position. Use of medical marijuana is not permitted for this role.
