About the role#
This 12-week summer internship program provides hands-on experience in mortgage underwriting and risk management. You will join a cohort of approximately 200 interns to learn about loan application assessments and the decision-making processes behind mortgage operations. You will support teams in identifying and mitigating operational risks while gaining insight into industry compliance and data analysis.
What you'll do#
- Evaluate a borrower's ability to repay loans by reviewing credit, income, debt, collateral, and funds.
- Ensure all work complies with investor guidelines and regulatory standards.
- Create reports and dashboards to present findings to Senior Leadership.
- Analyze data to support business operations and track hiring trends.
- Develop and enhance training materials and assist with classroom enrollments.
- Conduct risk assessments and research industry trends or best practices.
- Support the implementation of risk management policies and monitor compliance.
- Participate in team meetings and facilitate team activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program related to Finance, Business Administration, or Risk Management.
- Junior or senior status with an expected graduation date in 2027 or 2028.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- An openness to learning, a willingness to be coached, and the ability to be flexible.
- A collaborative mindset to thrive in a team environment.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship based on-site in Pontiac, Michigan.
- The program runs from May 17th to August 6th, 2027.
- Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this role.
