About the role#
This 12-week internship program provides an immersive experience within the Internal Audit department at United Wholesale Mortgage. You will work alongside our team to execute annual internal audits and Sarbanes-Oxley internal controls audits. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in the mortgage industry, compliance, and financial controls.
What you'll do#
- Execute audit procedures across various business units and IT general controls.
- Perform independent testing of processes, controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct design walkthroughs for business processes and Information Technology internal controls.
- Collaborate with business leaders to identify risks and improve control environments.
- Evaluate IT processes including privileged access management, user provisioning, and change control procedures.
- Assist in identifying control risks, validating remediation efforts, and documenting new business processes.
- Recommend remediation solutions in partnership with control owners.
- Contribute to initiatives that strengthen the organization's technology control environment.
What you'll need#
- Current junior or senior status, graduating with a bachelor's degree in 2027 or 2028.
- Pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related business discipline.
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus on Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, organize tasks, and deliver quality work with attention to detail.
- A strong work ethic and a willingness to be coached.
- Interest in pursuing a CPA or CIA certification.

- This internship is fully on-site in Pontiac, Michigan.
- The program runs from May 17th through August 6th, 2027.
- This position is paid.
