About the role#
United Wholesale Mortgage offers a 12-week Corporate Finance Summer Internship Program. This program provides an immersive experience within the Finance department, covering areas such as financial planning, analysis, reporting, valuation, internal audit, and tax compliance. Interns work alongside team members on projects that contribute to the company's financial strategy and operational efficiency.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with business process owners to document current processes and design future states.
- Develop and implement solutions using automation tools like Alteryx.
- Execute functional and Quality Assurance testing for new solutions.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and assist with month-end entries, including leases and stock compensation.
- Support quarter-end financials, earnings releases, and 10Q filings.
- Assist with MSR capitalization and fair valuation model analysis.
- Conduct financial forecasting, reporting, and operational metrics tracking.
- Perform variance analysis to identify trends and compare actual results against forecasts.
- Execute internal audits and Sarbanes-Oxley internal controls testing.
- Support the tax team with compliance research and financial analysis.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related business discipline.
- Expected graduation date in 2027 or 2028.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Excel.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities with attention to detail.
- Openness to learning new technical skills, including coding languages like SQL or Python.
- Interest in pursuing professional certifications such as CPA or CIA.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role requires working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- This position is fully on-site at the United Wholesale Mortgage campus in Pontiac, Michigan.
