About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at United Launch Alliance, you will work alongside experienced engineers to support flight hardware projects. You will gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of an aerospace company, ranging from production work to mission integration. This is a paid, full-time internship for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Perform analysis on existing and future flight hardware.
- Assist in the design and development of new hardware components.
- Conduct data analysis and work on software or methodology improvement projects.
- Test hardware and gain exposure to quality assurance, system safety, and launch operations.
- Create or modify tool designs and maintain production work instructions.
- Process cause and corrective actions for non-conformances.
- Manage suppliers and perform trade or manufacturer studies.
- Support component or integrated systems tests.
What you'll need#
- Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field.
- Completed at least your Sophomore year by Summer 2027.
- Minimum college GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
- Plans to be enrolled in classes during the Fall 2027 semester.
- Ability to work full-time for at least 10 weeks during Summer 2027.
- Working knowledge of NX, NASTRAN, SolidWorks, Mathcad, or CREO.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR regulations.
- Valid driver’s license and motorized vehicle transportation if assigned to Alabama, California, Florida, or Pueblo, Colorado.
