The Enterprise IT Strategy team at UMB Bank is seeking an IT Blockchain Intern to contribute to research, development, and project support for blockchain and digital asset initiatives. You will work within a structured enterprise environment to evaluate use cases, assess market trends, and assist in the development of strategic recommendations.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research and development on blockchain platforms, digital assets, tokenization, smart contracts, and distributed ledger technology trends.
- Support the assessment and development of potential blockchain use cases by analyzing business value, operational considerations, and implementation challenges.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, document business needs, and support initiative planning.
- Analyze market activity, competitive developments, and industry trends across financial services, payments, and digital asset ecosystems.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and executive-ready materials summarizing research findings, recommendations, and project updates.
- Participate in proof-of-concept, pilot, or exploratory efforts and monitor regulatory, operational, and technology developments.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in blockchain, digital assets, tokenization, fintech, or emerging technologies.
- Foundational understanding of blockchain concepts, including distributed ledgers, consensus models, smart contracts, wallets, and tokenized assets.
- Strong analytical, development, research, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate findings into clear insights.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information in a concise and professional manner.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based in Kansas City, Missouri.
- The role operates on a hybrid schedule, with on-site work required Monday through Thursday and remote work on Fridays.
