About the role#
Turner Construction Company is hiring a Safety Summer Intern for the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Reston, Virginia. You will work under the direction of a supervisor to support safety and loss control activities at a construction project or office location.
What you'll do#
- Help implement project safety programs, including Building L.I.F.E.
- Coordinate safety committees, tool box meetings, and orientation sessions.
- Review subcontractor safety programs to ensure they meet company policies and compliance standards.
- Manage the drug screening program, including pre-employment, random, and post-accident testing.
- Maintain safety documentation, such as OSHA 300 logs, incident investigations, and training records.
- Conduct jobsite and work area inspections to identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program for Civil, Industrial, or Environmental Engineering.
- Ability to identify and report safety hazards, especially those posing immediate danger.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local safety regulations.
- Experience or familiarity with conducting site inspections.
- Ability to maintain accurate safety records and metrics.
