About the role#
Turner Construction Company is hiring a Safety Intern for a rolling term based in San Antonio, Texas. This is a full-time, paid position that requires on-site work. You will support safety and loss control efforts on construction projects, working under the direction of a supervisor to maintain a safe work environment.
What you'll do#
- Help implement the Building L.I.F.E. (Living Injury Free Everyday) and project safety programs.
- Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices.
- Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning meetings, and tool box meetings.
- Assist with training sessions, orientations, and the administration of the drug screening program.
- Review subcontractor safety programs for policy compliance.
- Promote safe work practices that meet company, Federal, State, and local regulations.
- Conduct jobsite inspections and develop inspection summaries.
- Maintain safety records, including incident investigations, training logs, and chemical inventories.
- Assist with preconstruction meetings and project research.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited degree program for Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least one year of completed education or equivalent experience.
- Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general data entry.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- A desire to learn about the construction industry.
- Reliable transportation.
- Flexibility to work standard business hours and overtime when required.
