About the role#
Turner Construction is looking for a Safety Intern to join our team in Denver. You will gain hands-on experience in construction safety and loss control while working on active projects or in our office. This is a full-time, paid internship that offers the chance to learn how we manage safety programs on complex construction sites.
What you'll do#
- Support the implementation of the Building L.I.F.E. and project safety programs.
- Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices.
- Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning, and tool box meetings.
- Assist with training sessions and new employee orientations.
- Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance.
- Promote safe work practices and help maintain safe working conditions.
- Assist with the administration of the drug screening program.
- Conduct jobsite and work area inspections, including developing summary reports.
- Maintain safety records, including incident investigations, training logs, and hazard analyses.
- Conduct research and assist with preconstruction meetings.
- Document meetings as directed by your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited degree program for Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least one year of completed education or equivalent experience.
- Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
- A desire to learn about the construction industry and management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard collaboration tools.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive attitude and a willingness to learn quickly.
- Professional accountability for your own actions.
- Ability to work standard business hours with some overtime as required.
- Access to reliable transportation.
