About the role#
Turner Construction Company is hiring a Safety Intern for a rolling internship in Atlanta. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position. You will work under the direction of a supervisor to support safety and loss control efforts on construction projects.
What you'll do#
- Help implement the Building L.I.F.E. and project safety programs.
- Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices, focusing on hazards to life or property.
- Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning meetings, and tool box talks.
- Facilitate training at orientations and safety meetings.
- Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance.
- Administer the drug screening program and maintain safety records, including incident investigations and training logs.
- Conduct jobsite inspections and document findings.
- Perform research and assist with preconstruction meetings.
- Lead worker orientation programs for new employees.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited degree program for Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least one year of completed education or equivalent experience.
- Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
- A desire to learn about the construction industry and management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard collaboration tools.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexibility to work standard business hours and overtime as needed.
- Access to reliable transportation.
