About the role#
As a Safety Intern, you will support loss control and safety activities at our construction projects or office locations. This is a paid, full-time internship that offers hands-on experience in the construction industry. You will work under the direction of a supervisor to ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
What you'll do#
- Help implement the Building L.I.F.E. and project safety programs.
- Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices.
- Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning meetings, and tool box meetings.
- Assist with worker orientations and safety training.
- Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance.
- Conduct jobsite inspections and develop inspection summaries.
- Maintain safety records, including incident investigations, training logs, and chemical inventories.
- Assist with the administration of the drug screening program.
- Document meetings and conduct research for preconstruction planning.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university degree program in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of completed education or equivalent experience.
- Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard collaboration tools.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Willingness to work standard business hours and overtime as required.
