About the role#
Turner Construction Company is hiring a Safety Intern for the Summer 2027 term in Nashville, Tennessee. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position. You will support safety and loss control efforts on active construction projects.
What you'll do#
- Help implement the Building L.I.F.E. and project safety programs.
- Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices.
- Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning meetings, and tool box talks.
- Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance.
- Promote safe work practices and assist with drug screening administration.
- Conduct jobsite inspections and develop summary reports.
- Maintain safety records, including incident investigations and training logs.
- Lead worker orientation programs for new employees.
- Document meetings and conduct research as directed by your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited degree program for Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of completed education or equivalent experience.
- Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel as needed.
- Flexibility to work standard business hours and overtime when required.

- Physical requirements include the ability to climb stairs and ladders, navigate construction areas, and lift up to 25 pounds.
