About the role#
Turner Construction is hiring a Safety Intern for our Kansas City office. This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship. You will support our safety and loss control efforts on active construction projects. You will work under the direction of a supervisor to maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with regulations.
What you'll do#
- Help implement the Building L.I.F.E. (Living Injury Free Everyday) program.
- Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices.
- Coordinate and support safety meetings, tool box talks, and preplanning sessions.
- Assist with worker orientations for new employees.
- Review subcontractor safety programs for policy compliance.
- Administer the drug screening program.
- Conduct jobsite inspections and develop summary reports.
- Maintain safety records, including incident investigations and training logs.
- Perform research and document meetings as directed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited degree program for Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least one year of completed education or equivalent experience.
- Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general data entry.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- A proactive attitude and a desire to learn about the construction industry.
- Personal accountability and the ability to process information quickly.
- Access to reliable transportation.

- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Standard business hours with potential for overtime based on assignment needs.
- Physical requirements include the ability to navigate construction sites, climb ladders, and lift up to 25 pounds.
