About the role#
Turner Construction is hiring a Safety Intern for our Omaha office. This role supports the implementation of the Building L.I.F.E. program and helps maintain our safety standards on-site. You will gain hands-on experience in construction safety and loss control while working under the direction of a supervisor.
What you'll do#
- Assist with identifying and reporting safety violations or unsafe practices.
- Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning meetings, and tool box meetings.
- Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance.
- Conduct jobsite and work area inspections and develop inspection summaries.
- Maintain safety records, including Job Hazard Analyses, training records, OSHA 300 logs, and incident investigations.
- Administer the drug screening program.
- Lead worker orientation programs for new employees.
- Document meetings and conduct research for preconstruction planning.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited degree program for Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least one year of completed education or equivalent experience.
- Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general data entry.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Flexibility to work standard business hours and overtime as needed.

- Work Modality: On-site.
- This is a paid, full-time, rolling internship.
- Physical requirements include the ability to climb ladders, negotiate construction work areas, and lift up to 25 pounds.
