About the role#
As a Safety Intern, you will support the safety and loss control team on construction projects. You will work under the direction of a supervisor to maintain safe working conditions and ensure compliance with project safety programs. This is a paid, full-time, on-site role based in Dallas, Texas.
What you'll do#
- Assist with implementing the Building L.I.F.E. program and general project safety initiatives.
- Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices, specifically focusing on potential hazards.
- Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning meetings, and tool box talks.
- Help facilitate training sessions, orientations, and safety meetings.
- Review subcontractor safety programs to ensure they meet company and project requirements.
- Conduct jobsite and work area inspections and document findings.
- Assist with the administration of the drug screening program.
- Maintain safety records, including incident investigations, training logs, and chemical inventories.
- Conduct worker orientation programs for new employees.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited degree program for Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least one year of completed college education or equivalent experience.
- Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
- Desire to learn about the construction management industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general data entry.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Flexibility to work standard business hours and overtime when required.

- Physical requirements include the ability to climb ladders, negotiate construction work areas, and lift up to 25 pounds. You will be exposed to various construction site conditions including noise, weather, and mechanical parts.
