About the role#
Turner Construction Company is hiring a Safety Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position is based in Lueders, Texas, and requires on-site work. You will support safety and loss control efforts at a construction site, working under the direction of a supervisor to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the implementation of the Building L.I.F.E. program and project safety initiatives.
- Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices, prioritizing situations that pose immediate danger.
- Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning meetings, and tool box talks.
- Help organize training for safety meetings and new employee orientations.
- Review subcontractor safety programs to ensure they meet company and regulatory standards.
- Promote safe work practices and help maintain safety records, including incident investigations and training logs.
- Assist with the administration of the drug screening program.
- Conduct jobsite inspections and develop summaries of your findings.
- Perform research and document meetings as directed by your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited degree program for Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of completed education or equivalent experience.
- Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
- A desire to learn about the construction industry and management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard collaboration tools.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Personal accountability and a proactive, curious attitude toward learning.
- Flexibility to work standard business hours and overtime as required.
