About the role#
This is a paid, full-time summer 2027 internship based in Memphis, Tennessee. You will work on-site to support safety and loss control efforts across construction projects or office locations. This role requires flexibility to work standard business hours and overtime as needed.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the implementation of the Building L.I.F.E. and project safety programs.
- Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices, focusing on hazards to life or property.
- Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning meetings, and tool box meetings.
- Facilitate training sessions at safety meetings and worker orientations.
- Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Help manage the drug screening program and conduct preconstruction research.
- Perform jobsite and work area inspections while documenting findings.
- Maintain safety records, including OSHA 300 logs, MSDS documentation, and incident investigation metrics.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited degree program for Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least one year of completed education or equivalent experience.
- Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard collaboration tools.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Access to reliable transportation for potential travel.
- A proactive mindset and a desire to learn about the construction industry.

- Physical requirements: You must be able to navigate active construction sites, including climbing stairs and ladders, and lift up to 25 pounds. You will work in environments with varying noise levels and exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
