About the role#
Turner Construction Company is hiring a Safety Intern for the Summer 2027 term in Boston. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position. You will work on construction projects or in an office setting to support safety and loss control efforts under the direction of a supervisor. The role involves physical activity, including navigating construction sites, climbing stairs or ladders, and working in environments with varying noise levels and weather conditions.
What you'll do#
- Help implement the Building L.I.F.E. and project safety programs.
- Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices, focusing on hazards to life or property.
- Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning meetings, and tool box talks.
- Assist with training sessions and worker orientations for new employees.
- Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with company policies.
- Promote safe work practices that meet Federal, State, and Local regulations.
- Administer the drug screening program and maintain safety records like incident logs and inspection reports.
- Conduct jobsite inspections and document meetings.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited degree program for Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least one year of completed education or equivalent experience.
- Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
- Interest in construction management and the construction industry.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard collaboration tools.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexibility to work standard business hours and overtime as needed.
- Access to reliable transportation.
