About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world business scenarios within the construction industry. You will build foundational knowledge in operational finance, including project finance concepts and financial systems. The role involves working within a structured program to support day-to-day financial management while gaining exposure to artificial intelligence tools and data analytics.
What you'll do#
- Support core accounting functions such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and reconciliation.
- Review billing details against client contracts and verify invoice backup for accuracy.
- Assist with validating project cost coding and monitoring project cash flow.
- Help analyze budgets, reallocate costs, and support under and overbilling analysis.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to use automation and AI for financial workflows.
- Prepare ad hoc analyses and presentations for management reviews.
- Share periodic progress updates and engage in feedback sessions to support your professional growth.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 2- or 4-year accredited degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of completed coursework or equivalent experience.
- Must be 18 years of age and willing to work a standard work week.
- Basic understanding of GAAP and intermediate Excel skills.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and collaboration tools like Teams and SharePoint.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and clear verbal and written communication skills.
- A proactive attitude and a willingness to learn how finance supports construction projects.
- Interest in applying AI tools to improve financial processes.
