About the role#
This internship offers an opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world business scenarios within the construction industry. You will join a structured program designed to build foundational knowledge in operational finance. Depending on the assignment, you may work from a construction job site or an office location supporting multiple projects. This is a full-time, paid position for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Support day-to-day financial management, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, and reconciliations.
- Review billing details, contracts, and invoice backups to ensure accuracy and compliance with client requirements.
- Assist with validating project cost coding and verify the status of subcontractor and vendor accounts.
- Monitor project cash flow, including collections and payments, and prepare payments held reports.
- Contribute to budget analysis, cost reallocation through journal entries, and under or overbilling analysis.
- Use data tools and Artificial Intelligence to support financial reporting, improve efficiency, and standardize workflows.
- Prepare ad hoc analyses and presentations for management.
- Participate in training sessions, project site visits, and regular progress updates with your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited 2- or 4-year degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Completion of at least one year of coursework.
- Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Intermediate Excel skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work independently with guidance and collaborate within a team.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and clear communication abilities.
- Willingness to learn and apply Artificial Intelligence tools to financial processes.
- Must be 18 years of age to work at a construction project site.
- Ability to work a standard work week.
