About the role#
Turner Construction Company is hiring an Operational Finance Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position is based in San Antonio, Texas, and requires on-site work. You will participate in a structured program designed to apply your academic knowledge to real-world business scenarios while building foundational skills in construction accounting and project finance.
What you'll do#
- Support daily financial management tasks including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, and reconciliation.
- Review billing details and contract documents to ensure accuracy.
- Assist with validating project cost coding and monitor project cash flow.
- Help prepare journal entries to support the month-end close process.
- Contribute to data collection, reporting, and process improvement initiatives.
- Use financial tools and emerging technologies, including AI, to support analysis and improve reporting efficiency.
- Prepare ad hoc analyses and presentations for management reviews.
- Share regular progress updates with your supervisor to support your professional growth.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 2- or 4-year accredited degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of completed coursework or equivalent experience.
- Must be at least 18 years old to work on a construction site.
- Willingness to work a standard work week.
- Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Intermediate Excel skills and familiarity with collaboration tools like Teams and SharePoint.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Interest in learning how finance supports construction operations.
