About the role#
Turner Construction Company offers internships for students to gain experience in the construction industry. You will work on-site or in an office setting, depending on the business need. This role focuses on building foundational knowledge in project management, safety protocols, and financial tracking. You will contribute to project lifecycles while learning from experienced project teams.
What you'll do#
- Assist with daily project tasks and provide progress reports to your supervisor.
- Support the team with meeting coordination, material tracking, and document control.
- Process shop drawings, submittals, and Requests for Information.
- Help prepare estimates for changes in work and quantity take-offs.
- Monitor contractor compliance with safety programs.
- Attend site visits to observe and document field activities.
- Communicate with Architects, Engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Assist with project start-up and close-out preparations.
- Participate in training sessions and team meetings.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited degree program with at least one year of completed education.
- A desire to learn about construction management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic data entry.
- Personal accountability and a proactive approach to learning.
- Flexibility to work standard business hours and overtime when required.
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Familiarity with construction contracts and drawings is a plus.
