About the role#
This Summer 2027 internship at Turner Construction Company offers students the chance to apply academic knowledge to real-world business scenarios. You will build foundational knowledge in Operational Finance, including training on accounting principles, project finance, and financial systems. The role involves working at a construction job site or an office location supporting multiple projects.
What you'll do#
- Participate in a structured intern program and coordinate with supervisors to manage deliverables.
- Support day-to-day financial activities, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, and reconciliations.
- Assist with validating project cost coding and reviewing billing details against contracts.
- Help the Shared Services Organization with invoice processing and verifying subcontractor status.
- Analyze budgets, prepare journal entries, and monitor project cash flow.
- Contribute to under and overbilling analysis and prepare reports for team meetings.
- Identify opportunities to use AI technology and automation to improve financial workflows and reporting.
- Prepare ad hoc analyses and presentations for management.
- Follow company policies regarding financial reporting, confidentiality, and data governance.
- Attend training sessions, meetings, and project site visits.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited 2- or 4-year degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of completed coursework or equivalent experience.
- Must be at least 18 years of age to work at a construction site.
- Willingness to work a standard work week.
- Basic understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with intermediate Excel skills.
- Familiarity with collaboration tools like Teams and SharePoint.
- Strong interpersonal skills developed through leadership, campus involvement, or community activities.
- Ability to take direction, ask questions, and follow tasks through to completion.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Interest in learning how finance supports construction projects and an understanding of AI tools.
