About the role#
As a Construction Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the construction industry. You will work on an active project site or in a main office, supporting project teams with daily operations. This internship focuses on building your knowledge of construction management, project safety, and project coordination. You will apply academic concepts to real-world tasks throughout the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Assist with project start-up activities and document control.
- Support the team with meeting coordination, material tracking, and file management.
- Collect and review information for shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs.
- Prepare and distribute contract information.
- Attend site visits to observe and document field activities.
- Assist with quantity take-offs, estimates for changes in work, and subcontractor proposals.
- Monitor contractor compliance with safety programs and wear required PPE.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Participate in training, meetings, and orientation sessions.
- Assist with project close-out preparations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university degree program, such as Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
- At least one year of completed education or equivalent experience.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- A strong desire to learn about construction management.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical information.
- Commitment to standard business hours and overtime as needed.
- Proactive and curious mindset with a sense of personal accountability.
