About the role#
Turner Construction Company is hiring a Construction Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position is based in West Des Moines, Iowa. You will work on-site to build foundational knowledge in construction management, project safety, and subcontractor relations. This is a full-time, paid internship designed to support your academic learning and professional development.
What you'll do#
- Assist with day-to-day project activities including material tracking, file management, and document control.
- Support the project team with meeting coordination and progress reporting.
- Comply with all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment.
- Assist with project start-up and close-out preparations.
- Review shop drawings, submittals, and requests for information.
- Attend site visits to observe and document field activities.
- Help prepare quantity take-offs, estimates for change orders, and track job schedules.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university degree program, such as Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
- At least one year of completed education or equivalent training.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A desire to learn about the construction industry and construction management.
- Commitment to standard business hours and potential overtime.
