About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in construction management. You will work on active project sites or within a department office to learn about project lifecycles, safety protocols, and financial management. This is a paid, full-time summer 2027 position.
What you'll do#
- Support project teams with file management, document control, and material tracking.
- Assist with project start-up activities and close-out preparations.
- Coordinate meetings and provide regular progress reports to your supervisor.
- Help process shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs.
- Monitor contractor compliance with safety programs and wear required PPE.
- Prepare quantity take-offs and studies for project items.
- Communicate with architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Attend site visits to document field activities.
- Assist with estimates for changes in work.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited degree program, such as Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
- At least one year of completed college education.
- You must be 18 years of age or older.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- A proactive attitude and a desire to learn about the construction industry.
- Commitment to standard business hours and occasional overtime.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions and site signage.
Location & details#
- This role is on-site in San Francisco, Walnut Creek, or San Jose, California.
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
