About the role#
Turner Construction Company is hiring a Construction Intern for the Summer 2027 term in Columbus, Ohio. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position. You will work on an active construction project site or within a department at our main office to build foundational knowledge in construction management, project financials, safety protocols, and subcontractor relations.
What you'll do#
- Assist with day-to-day supervised activities related to project development.
- Support the project team with material tracking, file management, document control, and meeting coordination.
- Provide progress reports to your supervisor and relate academic knowledge to your daily work tasks.
- Attend site visits to observe and document field activities.
- Assist with the collection and review of shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs.
- Help prepare estimates for changes in work and distribute subcontractor proposals.
- Communicate with trades, subcontractors, architects, and engineers as directed to track schedules and project information.
- Monitor contractor compliance with safety programs and wear required PPE.
- Participate in training, meetings, and orientation sessions.
- Assist with project start-up and close-out preparations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university degree program, with at least one year of completed education.
- Recommended majors include Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related fields.
- You must be at least 18 years of age.
- A desire to learn about the construction industry and construction management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment while following directions.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A proactive, curious mindset with the ability to process information quickly.
- Commitment to standard business hours and potential overtime.
- Access to reliable transportation.
