About the role#
Turner Construction is hiring a Construction Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Portland, Oregon. You will work directly with project teams to gain experience in construction management, project coordination, and safety protocols.
What you'll do#
- Support the project team with file management, document control, and meeting coordination.
- Assist with project start-up activities and close-out preparations.
- Process shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs.
- Prepare quantity take-offs and estimates for changes in work.
- Monitor contractor compliance with safety programs and wear required PPE.
- Communicate with architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Attend site visits to observe and document field activities.
- Provide progress reports to your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in an accredited degree program in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
- At least one year of completed education.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- A strong desire to work in construction management.
- Ability to work standard business hours and overtime as required.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive attitude and a willingness to learn.
