About the role#
Tucson Electric Power is seeking a Student Intern to join the Plant Accounting department. This role offers hands-on experience in accounting and financial reporting. You will work alongside experienced professionals to support our financial operations while developing skills in communication and problem solving. This is a paid, part-time internship.
What you'll do#
- Assist with month-end close activities, such as journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Prepare financial schedules and reports for internal stakeholders.
- Support variance analysis.
- Use Oracle, PowerPlan, and Excel to extract, analyze, and present financial data.
- Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions.
- Contribute to special projects and ad hoc requests.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours) at an accredited university.
- Completed at least 60 credit hours toward a major in Accounting or a related discipline.
- Graduation date no earlier than May 2028.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Strong analytical, detail-oriented, and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Must maintain full-time student status and good academic standing.
Location & details#
- Location: Tucson, Arizona (Downtown).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Academic Year Schedule: Minimum 15 to 20 hours per week during regular business hours.
- Summer Schedule: Minimum 30 to 40 hours per week.
