About the role#
The Technical Writer Intern will create, update, and maintain clear and accurate technical documentation for internal teams, customers, and stakeholders. This role focuses on translating complex technical information into user-friendly documents and supporting the company documentation system. This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship based in San Luis Obispo, California.
What you'll do#
- Write, edit, review, and maintain technical documents including user manuals, work instructions, installation guides, and system specifications.
- Develop clear content that communicates technical information effectively to non-technical audiences.
- Capture photos and create visual aids such as diagrams and charts to enhance understanding.
- Assist with configuration management and change control by creating redlines and updating documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and customer support teams to gather information and ensure document accuracy.
- Conduct thorough reviews and edits to validate that instructions are correct and complete.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with technical writing and creating or reviewing technical documentation.
- Familiarity with mechanical or electromechanical systems, assemblies, or manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PDF editors, and document control software.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
