About the role#
This is a paid, on-site internship based in Plymouth, Michigan. You will work with the Laser Technology Division, gaining hands-on experience with industrial controls, robotics, and laser processing. The role requires at least 24 hours of work per week. We are looking for students available between January 2027 and August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Implement process improvements in the Laser Application center, specifically focusing on standardized pneumatic control systems.
- Update and document laser safety control systems.
- Develop controls test systems.
- Support the creation of standardized laser product demonstrations.
- Assist the Applications team with robotics and control topics during development projects.
- Adhere to all company guidelines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Associate or Bachelor degree program in engineering, robotics, mechatronics, electronics, or a related field.
- Experience with programming or coding, whether through school or a work environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with PLC or other embedded programming is preferred.
