About the role#
TRUMPF is seeking a Manufacturing Smart Factory Intern for the Sheet Metal Fabrication Department in Farmington, Connecticut. This position offers practical experience to supplement your classroom education. You will work on-site for at least 24 hours per week between January 2027 and August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support the development and implementation of Smart Factory projects.
- Focus on productivity improvements and on-time delivery tasks, such as hook management.
- Conduct current state analysis to establish baselines and improve future processes.
- Draft work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Develop and standardize safety and quality procedures for the department.
- Assist area supervisors with daily tasks and project goals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program, preferably in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically with Advanced Excel and Visual Basic Programming.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- Experience with 3D-modeling software, such as SolidWorks, is a plus.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment or knowledge of sheet metal fabrication is beneficial.
