DoD Skillbridge Military Intern (Golf Course Maintenance)

About the role#

The DoD Skillbridge Military Internship in Golf Course Maintenance is an entry-level position focused on the operation of equipment and grounds maintenance. This role provides hands-on experience in maintaining championship-level golf course conditions under the direction of the maintenance leadership team.

What you'll do#

• Maintain logs for machine operation, maintenance, and gas usage.
• Clean machinery after each use and inspect equipment for deficiencies, reporting any issues to the Equipment Technician.
• Keep the maintenance facility clean, organized, and safe.
• Perform routine golf course maintenance tasks including line trimming, edging, ball mark repair, divot filling, sod laying, and operating utility vehicles, blowers, and hand tools.
• Follow established safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment, and adhere to the Golf Course Maintenance Operations Manual.
• Assist with additional maintenance functions as directed by the Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations or Assistant Superintendents.

What you'll need#

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Capacity to operate golf course machinery.
• Physical ability to lift, pull, or push up to or over 50 pounds and move items with awkward weights.
• Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions.
• Specific vision abilities including close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance and peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Location & details#

• Location: San Antonio, Texas.
• Schedule: Full-time, on-site, with shifts as necessary based on business levels.
• Compensation: This is a paid internship.
