About the role#
The DoD Skillbridge Military Internship in Golf Course Maintenance is an entry-level position focused on the operation of equipment and grounds maintenance. This role provides hands-on experience in maintaining championship-level golf course conditions under the direction of the maintenance leadership team.
What you'll do#
- Maintain logs for machine operation, maintenance, and gas usage.
- Clean machinery after each use and inspect equipment for deficiencies, reporting any issues to the Equipment Technician.
- Keep the maintenance facility clean, organized, and safe.
- Perform routine golf course maintenance tasks including line trimming, edging, ball mark repair, divot filling, sod laying, and operating utility vehicles, blowers, and hand tools.
- Follow established safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment, and adhere to the Golf Course Maintenance Operations Manual.
- Assist with additional maintenance functions as directed by the Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations or Assistant Superintendents.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to understand and follow directions.
- Capacity to operate golf course machinery.
- Physical ability to lift, pull, or push up to or over 50 pounds and move items with awkward weights.
- Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions.
- Specific vision abilities including close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance and peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Location & details#
- Location: San Antonio, Texas.
- Schedule: Full-time, on-site, with shifts as necessary based on business levels.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
