About the role#
Join the Surface Transportation team in Bloomington for a summer internship focused on traffic engineering. You will work alongside professional engineers and technicians to design infrastructure systems for local agencies and contractors. This role runs from May 25, 2027, through August 13, 2027, with a 40-hour work week.
What you'll do#
- Collect and observe traffic data.
- Complete corridor studies and intersection evaluations.
- Run simulation and modeling software to conduct technical analyses.
- Prepare preliminary designs.
- Develop construction plans for signing, striping, traffic signals, and maintenance of traffic.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Civil Engineering.
- An interest in transportation or traffic engineering.
- Ability to work well in a team setting.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Previous coursework or projects focused on traffic or transportation.
- Experience or training in Microstation or AutoCAD.

- This position is based in Bloomington, Minnesota.
- Work is primarily on-site, though some hybrid arrangements may be available.
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
