About the role#
As a Magnet Engineering Intern, you will support the design and testing of HTS magnet prototyping programs. You will work on large-scale HTS magnet systems and related fusion technology. This role requires on-site work in Kearny, New Jersey, during the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Perform mechanical design tasks including CAD and FEA.
- Run electromagnetic simulations.
- Build and prototype hardware.
- Execute cryogenic testing.
- Work in a facility with industrial hazards such as high voltage, high currents, strong magnets, and pressure systems.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a STEM undergraduate or graduate program, specifically Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Environmental Engineering, or Physics.
- Hands-on or computational experience gained through research, clubs, or previous internships.
- Interest in clean and sustainable energy.
- Authorization to work in the US.
- A willingness to learn new skills and solve problems.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks requiring standing or sitting for long periods.
